5 ways to get your veggies in

Do you ever feel forced to get those greens and other veggies in? I know that sometimes it can feel like such a hassle especially if you have to go out to the store to get them right?

If so, I can relate! There was a day when I wouldn’t even let anything orange (besides cheese Pringles) cross my mouth, let alone kale!

Nowadays – it’s more like kale gone crazy in the Kitchen Shrink house. If you’re like me, going to the grocery store can be a fun adventure. You get samples, you get to look at all the amazing produce and maybe you see one or two people you know and enjoy a quick chat. I personally like to shop late at night because it’s relaxing.

But, here’s the thing. Like you, I’m super busy. Whether it’s seeing clients or working on a project. The last thing you want to do, is not fuel your body with the right ingredients.  If only I had MORE TIME. The one thing that’s on my Christmas List this year is time. :)  Time to prep, plan meals, go shopping (and enjoy it) and then cook. Bringing in all the groceries can be kind of a schlep too!

And then there was… this LIFESAVER!

I came across Door To Door Organics which is the best thing next to a slice of gooey chocolate cake, by the way! You can shop online, they even have recipes if you need some meal or food inspiration.

The coolest thing about this, is that I can ‘shop’ the aisles from my computer. Create my cart or ‘box’ goodies and they deliver it straight to my front door! It is literally like Christmas Day at my door every Tuesday!

I literally dance and skip around and geek out because a) I’m happy that I saved a lot of time b) I can focus on prepping and preparing meals and c) I’m enjoying the whole process because you can explore and experiment with new foods and recipes!

So I get this box that is busting with amazing produce at my door!  We’re talking seasonal, organic and smells SO fresh! Ruby red pomegranates, golden butternut squash, leafy kale, ripe avocados, crisp delicious apples and so much more. I’ll be making a Warming Chicken, Apple & Butternut Squash Soup with these ingredients!

I can’t say enough! I do love my grocery store, but its amazing to have a service that is reliable, offers amazing products and brands that you can trust! They’re friendly, convenient, saves you time and everything is as fresh as can be!

Maybe greens and other veggies just don’t appeal to your palate, seem downright BORING or you don’t know how to make them appetizing. You can get much more with Door To Door Organics than just veggies and produce. Take a look

I have a hard time getting in all my veggies. I love them with a dressing of some sort. Still have a hard time getting them in my smoothies.

What kind of dressing do you use? I love to make my own and throw in some chopped cilantro or parsely! Big antioxidants! What have you been putting in your smoothies?

I juice my veggies: spinach, kale, yellow squash, zucchini, celery and carrots. I also roast my veggies: onions, Romano tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini in an olive oil, white wine mix; toss well and bake at 350° for 30 minutes. I also saute my veggies in olive oil with garlic: broccoli, onion, yellow squash zucchini and red pepper and throw them in a rice penne pasta mixed with veggie shred cheese and bake at 350° for 25 minutes then remove and put some more of the shredded ‘cheese’ on top and bake until melted – yum to all of the above.
