WHAT EXACTLY IS MY KITCHEN SHRINK?
Great question! It’s a brand, a story, and lifestyle. Kitchen Shrink is kind of like the idiom, ‘Everything but the Kitchen Sink.’ It’s a fun (less clinical) approach to transforming health and happiness using the principles of holistic nutrition and positive health psychology.  Before we go further, let’s re-define shrink, shall we? Because the shrink I’m talking about reaches far beyond intense therapy or counseling, becoming smaller, or focusing on decreasing your waist size, number on the scale or amount of food you eat. Shrink in this context is NOT about depriving or taking away. Shrink is about reducing negative beliefs, attitues, relationships and foods that just don’t serve you any longer.  

My Kitchen Shrink is a zesty way to encompass all things health. Emotional. Physical. Spiritual.

The approach I take includes pretty much everything under the sun, from pantry overhauls, shopping tours, teching clients to cook, educating on food, digging deep into the mindset and limiting core beliefs to teaching mindfulness technqiues. 

Through my own health struggles and frustrations, I came up with a framework that encompasses the whole body, but also stands for how I want to feel on a daily basis and allows me to set up my day for success. 

F.A.B. Health stands for food, attitude and body. Health is really the relationship you have with these three ingredients and is ALWAYS uniquely defined by the you. 

I totally get it. My meanings of the words are well… unconventional. So let’s take a look at what My Kitchen Shrink is all about.

My: is really all about you. Your courage, confidence, responsibility and ownership. Owning who you are and that you have all the right ingredients for a wildly delicious recipe of health success. When you complete these programs you will become your very own My Kitchen Shrink!

It has nothing to do with your age, weight, skin color or body type. It’s about owning your power and strength, feeling confident in your body and using your voice to stand up for what you believe in.

Kitchen: is a place to make amazing food, meals and memories that will transform your life. It’s about cooking up core connections and relationships with yourself, food, family, friends and blending them right up into your secret sauce recipe for success! No excuses just pure passion and love!

Shrink: means investigating, inquiring, deeply and searching for the emotional, physical and spiritual connections that nuture and nourish your health and happiness. Shrink means to focus in on your unique gifts and inner guidance to change your life.

It’s about listening to your own inner wisdom and defining your health on your own terms, breaking the rules and making your own that work specifically for you!

What is F.A.B. stand for? Other than fabulous….which you already know you are….

Food: The yummy nourishing things that we eat, drink or take in to sustain a nourishing, vivacious life

Attitude: your own unique feeling, position on your body, emotions, food and mind set. The way you view the world.

Body: the brilliant magnificence that you live in that talks to us through our senses, houses our internal organs that do amazing things for us each and everyday.

Camp! It’s about coming together as a group and prospering in our health and relationships with ourselves, food and others. It’s about doing the inner work and loving and accepting ourselves exactly where we are at each step of the process and having a powerful tribe of wonderful strong women around to help guide and support and cheer you on every step of the way! It’s a secret sauce recipe that has taken me 15 years to perfect. It’s a blend of evidence based science + body wisdom and intuition + life experience to create delicious health transformations.

Weight loss may be a side effect as you make peace with your body, eat healing nourishing foods that help decrease inflammation and bring you to a set-point your body is naturally supposed to be at. But don’t count on it! Our goal is health + happiness!

WHY I KNOW A THING….OR TWO (AKA my credentials)
Undergraduate degree: BS Nutritional Science & Dietetics- University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Dual graduate degree: MS Holistic Nutrition & Clinical Health Psychology from the Harvard of natural medicine – Bastyr University.

Certified Nutritionist & Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (in the Evergreen state of WA!)

One of 40 in the country with this specific dual degree + combined training.

I have worked and interned at hospitals, eating disorder clinics, mental health clinics and private practices plus ran multiple live and on-line groups.

ADDITIONAL TRAININGS: 

AFMCP –Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice™. The Institute for Functional Medicine teaches health care professionals how to apply their principles in practice through an intensive 5 day training course called Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice™. I attended and completed the inaugural AFMCP™-US training in Tuscon, Arizona in 2015.
